District 5330
Your District Governor’s Message
September
2011
Governor
Steve Wallace
Here are some
great websites for Rotary information from Steven Solomon from the
Rotary Foundation.
Websites
Rotary E-Learning Center
Visit the Rotary E-Learning Center for more online training
resources including Future Vision, best practices, new member
information and more. Try the Rotary Foundation Funding online
training for an overview of how contributions to the Rotary
Foundation pay for grants & programs. It highlights the SHARE
system and the Annual Programs Fund. Visit the Rotary E-Learning
Center.
Project Funding Guide
“Fundraising requires a plan that explains your club’s goals for
the project and how it expects to raise the money needed to make it
work. Some projects are financed entirely through fundraising
events, such as a charity dinners, bake sales, or car washes. Other
times, your club will need to turn to outside funding sources, which
may include: individuals, businesses, foundations (including The
Rotary Foundation), Nonprofit or nongovernmental organizations,
government agencies or other Rotary clubs.)” Visit the Project
Funding Guide.
Online Fair for Matching Grants
“The goal of this website is to facilitate communications between
Rotarians looking for projects to finance, and Rotarians looking to
finance their local projects.” There is a new Rotary Foundation
Global Grants website for Pilot Districts. Visit the Online Fair for
Matching Grants.
ProjectLINK Database
This searchable database lists Rotary club and district community
service projects in need of funding, volunteers, donated goods,
and/or partners for a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant. There are
also lists of completed projects that can be used as examples of
best practices. For additional project details, contact programs@rotary.org
or the local Rotarian or club listed. Visit ProjectLINK.
Rotary Trips
This Rotarian managed site “was designed to help Rotarians who are
planning trips around the world connect with other Rotarians who
want to travel and make a difference… [with a goal to] get more
Rotarians involved with hands-on projects and become an active part
in making the world a better place.” Visit Rotary Trips.
An Alternative Search Engine
for the Rotary Website
Try a customized search engine that searches http://www.facebook.com/l/qAQA0XSokAQCxwGDV72HbMg8fHPa6uwpgGeiEFqoENIyDUA/www.rotary.org
to help you find what you need. Visit: Search Engine for the Rotary

Global Polio Eradication Initiative
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is a public-private
partnership led by national governments and spearheaded by the World
Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the United Nations
Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Its goal is to eradicate polio
worldwide. This site provides up to date information on polio cases
and eradication activities around the world.

August 2011
Hi
Rotarians!
Please mark your calendars. District
Governor Steve Wallace is inviting you to attend his District
Conference Friday through Sunday,
November 4-6, 2011.
There are some great activities planned on
Friday including local tourist attractions, spa packages, the annual
District Golf Tournament, and our famous Hospitality Suites Party beginning at
5:00p.m.
At Saturday's Grand Opening, the official conference begins! We have some super
speakers, great meals, a community service project, and the Foundation Gala. We
also open our first District Interact Conference and it should be a
sell-out. On
Sunday you will be able to meet with our Rotary International speakers on
a smaller group basis during our Break Out Sessions. And Scott Greenberg is not
to be missed. (Actually, none of our speakers are to be missed!)
Attached is a Conference Information Sheet. You will see it is going to be a
great program.
Let's break the record this year on attendance. Prices are very affordable and
you have a great opportunity to spend the weekend enjoying Rotary
Fellowship at its best.
Any questions - let me know. Please see the District Website for the
Registration Form and information on the Friday activities.
Yours in Rotary Service,
District Conference Chair Christine Cross

District Governor
April is Rotary
Magazine month! Once you have finished reading yours from cover to cover, give
it to someone who isn’t a Rotarian, yet! Or give it to a library in your
community or a school library or take them to a doctor’s office or hair salon!
This will help spread the word about Rotary and all the great things we, as
Rotarians are doing! Share the Rotarian with others!
We are into the fourth quarter of the Rotary Year 2010-2011! Each club and
individual Rotarians have contributed much time and effort to meet the needs of
the community and the world. You all should be very proud of your
accomplishments, I know I am! Keep up the good work. If we don’t do it, who
will?
Now for the big push toward the finale! Our theme this year is Building
Communities and Bridging Continents! RI President Ray Klinginsmith included in
his theme BIGGER, BETTER, BOLDER! Bigger Clubs, bigger projects which equals
better clubs and better projects! We need to be bolder in our efforts! We did it
with Polio Plus! Our donations to the Annual Programs Fund (SHARE) are very low.
If we don’t get them up, there will be very little money coming back to our
District for the 2013-2014 Rotary year. This will have an impact on what your
club can do for your community and around the world. The money that comes back
is called District Designated Funds it determines what we can use for District
Simplified Grants (Club Opportunity Grants), Global Grants, Vocational Training
Teams and scholarships! Our District membership has had hard times financially
the past few years, but we need to contribute what we can to The Rotary
Foundation’s Annual Programs Fund so we can continue to provide our
communities both locally and globally with much needed assistance! We need
Rotary Now More Than Ever!
Have you heard the buzz going around the District? It just keeps getting
louder! It’s Bigger, Better and Bolder! Something about a Celebration in the
Desert June 10-12, 2011! District 5330 Rotarians are going to ROCK the Doral
with our District Conference! The Hospitality Suites are going fast! We only
have a few remaining, so please don’t be left out! Contact Susan Kean to
reserve one! The Doral has kept room prices down to $129 a night. A guarantee
from almost three years ago! To help our fellow Rotarians out, we have reduced
the cost of the meals! Thanks to Negotiator Supreme, Milt Levinson! We also have
a reduced price meal package for you! You can download a registration form from
the District Website or contact our Registrar, Jeff Williams. If you want to
have a Club Display, contact Don Lunday! Also, if you want to have a table to do
some club fundraising at the Conference, you can do that for a small fee! We
will be giving out award patches to every club that meets criteria and applies.
Plus, we will be giving out special patches for special accomplishments! Don’t
miss out! It won’t be as fun, if you are not present! Saturday Night Keynote
Speaker, RI Director John Blount! Entertainment will be dueling pianos and they
want to know what you want them to play, so contact Conference Chair Cal Boothby
with your requests. Check out the flyer in this newsletter!
